Tamez Barbecue

It’s a cute, quaint spot, and I really wanted to like it. I don’t enjoy giving local places low ratings, so I’m being generous with three stars. That said, the prices felt high for the portion sizes. The brisket was dry, the tacos were okay but lacked flavor, and the tea tasted sour. Service was also very slow, especially considering I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time. I might give it another shot but it won't be soon.

Been going here for lunch once a week for a while now. Best brisket around! Tacos, wings, fries - have never been disappointed. Not just the food either. The staff brings us back each week. And they are continually improving the experience. Can't wait for the outdoor seating area to be complete. Great place.

My husband and I each had a BBQ sandwich plate. I got fried and he got Mac n cheese. The food was sooo disappointing to say the least. I haven’t had bad food like this in a while. The bbq had way too much liquid smoke, the soda was flat, the Mac n cheese was kraft box and the fries were large chunks of half cooked potatoes. The fries were not cooked thoroughly at all. Our waitress was kind but never once asked us how the food was. Just drop off and then the check. We will not be going back and recommend other much better bbq places in Athens.

5 star food and staff!!!!!! Love the addition of the new bar. Burger is the best in the area.

BBQ pork was decent, but the sides were horrendous. The most bland potato salad I've ever encountered. Mac & cheese was straight out of a box. Definitely not worth the high price. I'll stick with Jim 'N Nick's
