We were on a visit from New York and visited Tae's Soul Food on Sunday, August 10th. I had already did the search for Black Owned Business where we could get some down home cooking when we arrived. Tae's hit the spot. I had my whiting fish with Mac & cheese, while my family had the catfish with the collards, string beans and other side orders. As I said; it hit the spot and everyone was full and satisfied. The staff were tolerant as we all fiddled around with placing our orders. Finally, we got that off the ground and the food was served. We even got to meet the cook. We left Lawrence, VA. early Tuesday so we didn't have the.chance to revisit but we are certainly coming back for another home cooked meal. The Bishop-Evans family and Runako- Gamba 1st of "Buy Black Campaign" thank you all fo
My chicken was fried with two long strands of hair, I was told it was breaded and fresh which was not the case, the yams tasted sour, the Mac and cheese was sloppy, and the greens were also not freshly made as I was told. I give honest reviews…
Overlook the bars on the windows on a historic building. this is excellent real food by nice people. Best catfish and sides we have had in a long time.
I so much wanted to like this restaurant. My food was hot. So that’s a plus. Fried Whiting, fish was over cooked, dry. Macaroni cheese was very hot . Not much flavor at all and literally cheese was non existent. I was so surprised. Yams were the best food ordered. Hot but very sweet. Unfortunately I did not like my cornbread either. Tea was extremely sweet. But I know many people like it that way. My husband’s food was not good either. Hamburger steak smothered in gravy. Mashed potatoes, gravy and collard greens ( only thing he said tasted good). I’m not sure if we will give them another try or not. If we do it might be for something easy like a hamburger or chicken wing dings. Maybe the normal staff cooking wasn’t there. Idk. It was the Peanut Festival that day also.
Saw it on Google (staying at local VRBO) and knew we'd love it. Menu is great and didn't disappoint. Super nice folks and the buffet let us try everything!
