Sushi Plus

Situated near some high end restaurants, including some Sushi places with fancy names, Sushi Plus was not what I expected. I came after I was rejected by the other Japanese eateries since i did not have a reservation on a Friday evening. It was 8:00 and now I know better. But it turned out to be the best thing. I had the restaurant to myself as they close at 9 p.m. and the dinner rush was over. I had already eaten dinner but I had an hour wait for something in the area. I love sushi, so I gave Sushi Plus a chance. I ordered a 2-piece yellowtail, a miso soup and an order of hot Saki. The yellowtail was a sizable portion and the color was perfect, clearly a quality cut. The miso soup was excellent, obviously not from a bag mix or well disguised. The Saki was also excellent. I’ve been coming here for years. They have the best rolls. They’re a decent size and price. Everything you get from here is fresh and delicious. Everyone I’ve brought here, says it’s their favorite and comes back often. The staff is always kind and friendly. Lindsay and Karen make this place special as well as the male chef. They always remember me, know my order and are so kind and accommodating. I will never, ever, stop coming here!

Most underrated, sushi spot for miles around, HB/FV (trust me, I eat a lot of sushi and i know what's up). I live in DT HB and drive to fountain Valley just to come here. Great rolls, great prices. Small place though, so it gets busy sometimes. I'm shocked there isn't an hour long wait every night. They keep to the basics, for the most part. Nothing too exotic, just solid, solid rolls and sashimi. Best salmon skin roll I've ever had. Best Hamachi kama. Best fresh, hot green tea. Fire in the hole roll, 747 roll, yellow rose roll, baked lobster roll... you can't go wrong. Karen and Daniel put it down for FV. Not a fancy place, but best value by far in the HB area.
