Summit Diner

One of the few OG Jersey diners left. I drove over an hour just to come here and made a day out of it with my family. We had to wait for a table, which was to be expected on a Sunday. The service was extremely fast and the food was high quality. You can be in and out in 20 minutes easily. Cash only. I had a chance to talk to the owner and he is an absolute gem. This is easily one of the top diners in Jersey, if not the very best. Do yourself a favor and make the drive from wherever you are in the Garden State to eat here.

Absolutely the best diner you’ll step foot in. Great service and old school genuine North Jersey charm in the heart of Summit. The coffee is great and be sure to get the legendary Taylor ham & egg on a roll. Great diner, great people.

We had a lovely breakfast at Summit Diner in Union, NJ! The outdoor seating was perfect, great weather, a charming downtown setting, and we were even able to bring our dog, which made it feel even more welcoming and relaxed. We ordered the Mexican omelette, spinach and feta omelette, French toast with bacon, pancakes and sausage, and coffee. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The ambiance is cozy and classic, just what you’d hope for from a diner experience. That said, there was only one server managing the outdoor tables, which understandably led to longer wait times. She was warm, friendly, and doing her best, but clearly overwhelmed, especially with a line of guests waiting to be seated. The food was really good, and the place has a nice and cozy atmosphere. The waiting time was also great — very fast service. However, I did see a rat inside the restaurant, which was a bit disappointing. The cleanliness definitely needs some improvement. Other than that, the food and service were great.

Nice old feeling like a 50's classic diner. Had breakfast and it was okay. Staff is welcoming and place is cozy.
