Sugar Shack Diner

What can you NOT find in the south? An awesome tenderloin sandwich. And Sugar Shack has a really good one.

Best dinner in all of Iowa! We drove here for the first time. Definitely worth a drive even if you do not live in Altoona! Service was phenomenal. Food was amazing!

This place was pretty great! Ordered a Mint chocolate chip shake and a chicken fajita wrap👍 Service was good but the fries had a bit too much salt on them for my liking. Not gonna remove any starts for that because I know lots of people like salt. 5/5, definitely would go here again👍

Not the greatest today, unfortunately. Two of us came for lunch; I ordered the Philly steak sandwich and my mom ordered the tenderloin special. Both served with fries. My sandwich was lacking steak, which turned out ok, because it tasted like it was freezer burnt and was a bit rubbery. My mom's tenderloin tasted like it was fried in old grease. The fries were good and crispy, though. We'll be back, but today just wasn't the greatest.

This is what I'd call great food with great service! I ordered the Hawaiian Burger and my wife ordered their tenderloin. The sandwiches tasted great, were made to order, and done our way. However, their fries are some of the best I've ever had. Their crunch and flavor are absolutely to die for. The outside of this diner needs help. It looks like a homeless shelter. However, the inside has a 1950's diner decor and it's clean. The staff was great great! Friendly and attentive! Definitely worth the time AND worth the money! Keep up the great work!
