Studentreasures Publishing

This project effectively motivated reluctant writers. Students were excited to research and write about their animals, and the publishing process was clear and easy. All materials were provided, and the finished books arrived a month early.

I have done this with a few different classes and have consistently been blown away with the excellence of the product. Students love to become published authors, and it's a great way to lessen angst around writing. I had my students create "rough rough drafts" then "rough drafts" and then "final drafts", all in pencil. For their "publishing draft" I had them write on the provided numbered pages in black ink. For 4th/5th, it's a pretty big deal to write in pen! I'd recommend Student Treasures HIGHLY to anyone even remotely interested. We also purchased an extra copy for our school library, so students can literally check out their book!

We have had the best time becoming published authors. The kids loved their book. We ended with a red carpet party. The kids dressed to the nines. The kids entered the cafeteria on the red carpet with music. We had parents and community during our gallery walk (observe the kids poetry). Our state and county superintendents came and board. We had tons of parents and grandparents come. We received gifts and a special message from our favorite author friend, Alane Adams. The author sent her book and some gifts for the kids.

I thought the entire process and idea of what Studentreasures offers to our youth and schools is incredible!!! An opportunity to publish a book!!! How exciting!!! I felt everything was very easy to navigate, find and work with. The website and tools are extremely helpful!!! The reminders and checklists are great, too!!!! I loved this experience and was so happy to have such a positive experience with my first time publishing a student book!!!! The students had a blast and are so proud of what they were able to accomplish!!! Thank you so very much for this opportunity!!!!!
