Island Grill Caribbean & American Restaurant

The owner was nice and professional. The music kept cutting off and was a little loud. I was expecting more consistent theme. The restaurant was full when we came in. That was a good sign. They were out of quit a few things so we will have to go back to try other foods out. The Ox tails were good, the burger was good. Everyone left satisfied. No left overs.

The staff were extremely polite and accommodating. While the music was a bit loud we asked to have it turned down a bit and he graciously accepted. The food was a bit spicy for being mild but had a ton of flavor. They were unfortunately out of the oxtail, shrimp, and snapper so we ultimately only had meat as the only choice. But otherwise flavorful and would definitely recommend for a new place to try.

My fiancée and I stopped by for a late-night meal after a night out, and we were blown away. We ordered the jerk chicken and fries, and it was incredible — flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food you get. The wait time was a little longer since everything is homemade, but it was definitely worth it. You can really taste the difference. The owner and staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. I’m honestly surprised this place isn’t more popular — it’s a hidden gem in Topeka. We’ll definitely be back soon to try the oxtail and Jamaican patties. Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic, delicious Caribbean food and great service.

We recently tried the Island Grill. It was a great experience. The atmosphere, service, and food was outstanding. We ordered the oxtail, with rice n beans and cabbage. Also ordered the jerk egg sandwich. Great flavor. We'll be back. Park just east of the building.

Stopped in here back in October for jerk chicken and rice, they did not have any made. I asked for beef empanadas and was also told they did not have any. What I ended up eating was two beef patty’s. The flavors amazing. I could have had 2 more!! I now have another favorite. I visited during the week at lunchtime. I do feel you need more food prepared or be willing to prepare it, especially during a busy time like lunch. Otherwise, I have no complaints.
