Steele Cottage

Fun stay in a historic home. I stayed in Mrs. Steele's room, which had a great blend of historic architecture and furnishings with upgraded bathroom and amenities. I was also grateful for the breakfast and tour provided at nearby Duff Green Mansion.

This was such a great last minute decision. The house was originally built in the early 1800s and is just so interesting! The owners have done a wonderful job of using period furniture and such (or at least things that go with that theme). The location is very near downtown and in the historic district, so it’s near downtown much. We rented two rooms, and, yes, one of the rooms did not have its own bathroom and we had to walk through the “public” foyer. We did not find it to be that big of a deal at all.

I cannot say enough about how pleasant our experience was during our stay here! My husband and I visited Vicksburg, for our 30th wedding anniversary, and stayed three nights at Steele Cottage (shown in the pictures) , one of three properties owned by the Duff Green proprietor. Each morning we had a delicious, homemade, three course breakfast at the Duff Green Mansion (included in our stay) that was absolutely to die for. The staff was so gracious and attentive & made us feel so welcomed. The property manager, Latonya, was absolutely precious. By the time we left she felt like family. We loved it, and her, so much that we booked a return visit, over breakfast, for December. The tour guide for the after breakfast tour of the mansion was a hoot and we had the best time chatting with her. She

Not a recommended stay. Located beside a scenic razor wired detention center, jail, the ambiance flows and the luke warm hospitality makes you regret the stay. Morning wake up call of a yipping dog that will come and drop a fresh stinking dog turd right in your room.tops the stay off. Breakfast still up for debate..

Absolutely fantastic! Located in the heart of historic Vicksburg, Steele's Cottage is charming and filled with history -- truly a walk back into the last century. If only walls could talk! It is also only about a 5-minute drive to the National Historic Military Park, which is well worth a visit. Vicksburg was everything a civil war history geek like myself could hope for!|The room was immaculate and filled with historical tidbits! The property manager (Tonya) was excellent and beyond helpful when a problem about reservation dates went cross-ways. (Totally my fault -- I entered them wrong). Breakfast was delicious, and served in the beautiful Duff Green mansion. The tour of that historic home afterward was very interesting!|We enjoyed ourselves so much that we extended our stay another day,
