Steaming Tender Restaurant

I found a gem!! We were “pacing a train” for my son who rail fans and I decided to turn down what I thought was a dirt road rather than chasing on the highway and rolled into this beautiful place. This is a historical railroad site that is busy with trains for the enthusiast! But the food!! I only rate 5 or 0, 2-4 anyone can figure out and to me is not worth my effort … and this place gets on the 5 list. The atmosphere you just have to experience … it’s like polar express meets Rosie the Riveter. The service is wonderful - very kind and accommodating. The place is very busy but plenty of wait staff presence at the table - the drinks stay full. The food is just amazing. I chose the Reuben and my son chose the MacNcheese. Just amazing. The prices reflect the experience but I appreciated that

I am a young railfan and the Steaming Tender Restaurant is a hot spot for rail traffic in Massachusetts. The Palmer Diamond behind the building is a very nice view with the intersection with CSX and NECR. Food was actually surprisingly tasty and the service was friendly. I like the railroad terms used in the menu and decals around the building were awesome. This is great railfanning spot where you can have a good meal and enjoy the trains that come through. This was our first visit to Steaming Tender. Dara, outr waitress greeted us at the table and gave us some history of the restaurant/train station. We ordered some mixed drinks, and our appetizers and entrees. The clam chowder was delicious, as well as the haddock and scallops. For dessert we got the whiskey bread pudding and a cheesecake. The bread pudding was advertised as a house specialty, and it did not disappoint! Probably the best I've ever had.

When you walk into the steaming den that you definitely can have a wow factor the beautiful restored train station old trains in the front yard train tracks run within feet of the building although they don't stop at the building, it's a unique experience to have the train run by weight staff dressed in railroad decor, mini antiques, and railroad memorabilia the food was perfectly cooked.
