Southern Social Chaska

Short answer: Food was very good. Cocktails were forgettable. Service was pretty bad. Long answer: Food: Very good. The biscuits were great. She-crab soup was packed with crab and was rich but very good. The shrimp po boy was extremely messy but had great flavor. Cajun Snapper was moist and had great flavor as well. The pimento Mac was bland and a little dry. And the brown butter cake was baked well but was way too sweet. Cocktails: Hurricane was basically just a glass of rail white rum so that was disappointing. Service: Our server was knowledgeable and polite but overall the service was pretty bad. It was a pretty quiet night and we only saw our server twice. We had to get another servers attention so we could get refills on drinks and when we needed the check. There were times where

Southern social is chaska’s newest restaurant and we were eager to check it out. We went on a busy Saturday night and only had to wait about 10 minutes for our group of 3 to be seated. We started with drinks and apps. The spicy plum (tequila and mezcal based) was excellent. The craft old fashion was also very good. For apps we got the wings, smoked with sauce on the side - they were juicy and great for dipping. Our other app was the hoecake, it was ok but the pancake itself was a little too sweet. For dinner we had the meatloaf, half chicken, and the loaded grilled cheese. The meatloaf was generously sized and the potatoes and gravy were nice complements. The only critique on the meatloaf would be to grill it before serving like many other restaurants do to add some texture. The chicke

This place is fantastic. Went on a Thursday evening with a group of 8 and plenty of room. The service was outstanding. Everyone’s food came out great. I had the shrimp po boy the shrimp was a little cold otherwise it was great. Wish they would use coleslaw not lettuce, and the sweet potato fries are outstanding. Everyone was happy with everything they got. Menu seems to have something for everyone. Our server was extremely helpful when making decisions on what to get.

First time being to a Southern Social and it’s become our new favorite/go-to spot. We had Yocelin as a server and she gave us PHENOMENAL recommendations. The restaurant was cutely decorated for the holidays, food was excellent and came out in a timely manner, and the drinks were good! We got the Nashville chicken sandwich’s, they were HUGE, I loved that the chicken was super moist and it wasn’t too heavily breaded and fried/the fried part was not overwhelming (as I find with most fried chicken). The French fries were super good. We got the peach bourbon bread pudding (a recommendation from Yocelin) and it did not disappoint. It was so delicious. I can’t rave about this spot enough. Can’t wait to come back very soon!

Southern Social is a great atmosphere, the food is out of this world & portions are huge, well worth it. We had the best waiter, who was so helpful, gave us suggestions & info on the menu & also running the bar. He was so friendly, ontop of his game & you can tell he loves his job.
