South Portland Public Library: Main Library

Very nice guys!! I always go there with my daughter to get new books every week. People are always friendly, very accomodating and experienced!!!

This is my go-to spot to get work done for graduate school or my job for WFH. Great lighting, wonderful staff, convenient parking, and a quiet space to work. I love this library!

A very friendly and helpful young man behind the counter helped me and my wife, as new arrivals to the area, get registered to check out materials! We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of books and other available things.

This library is one of my favorites! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The space is well done with what they can do with the building. I like coming here to work and enjoy the large windows. They have an excellent collection and work hard to get books from other libraries if you need it too. Thank you SoPo Library for all you do!

Overall, staff is friendly and helpful at both the main and branch locations. I had one good experience accessing and enjoying the park pass with a staff member that held the pass for the 1/2 hour it was going to take me to get to the library after work one day. My second experience attempting to access the pass over the course of 2 days wasn’t good/didn’t work out. The library’s policy of first come first serve is one thing, but not even allowing a reasonable amount of time for a patron to get to the library with assurance the park pass will in fact still be there by the time you arrive to pick it up is not reasonable, in my opinion. It wasn’t worth preparing to go to a state park, using gas and the 1/2 hr plus to get to the library to potentially arrive and be told it was checked out
