Soto's Outpost Mexican Restaurant

We came in on a weekday for lunch and sat on the patio with our two little dogs. The staff was very friendly and service was prompt. Was a very nice day to sit out on the patio. There is a player piano out there but I'm not sure it works. Interesting to look at though. I had an Enmolado which is a chicken enchilada with mole sauce over it. It was delicious

In town visiting from Phoenix for the weekend and tried this place out. The staff were easy going, very kind and attentive. I had the number 9, two chicken enchiladas, chicken taco, rice and beans. The rice was very delicious with a pleasing savory flavor. The refried beans were creamy and very flavorful, among the best I’ve had. I am used to tacos where the shell is made into its shape with the meat inside, this taco was made with a pre-made shell. It wasn’t bad, just not what I’m used to. The enchiladas were fine. The chips seemed slightly stale, so that was a bummer. Overall, the fare is typical Mexican food and likely has broad appeal for tourists in this artsy small town.

It seems like they’re winding down. The food is still good, but the selection is less and you shouldn’t be in a hurry. I like the food but it’s not a great value. It’s like no one cared whether we were there or not. Didn’t bother checking to make sure our food was good or whether we needed drink refills, and the place was pretty empty,so it’s not like they were overwhelmed. I refilled our chips, since no one bothered to ask. Almost certainly our last visit.

We were there for lunch on Saturday, January 31. Sat on the patio that was less than 1/2 full. No menus. No drinks for 15 min. One very small bowl of salsa and chips for 4 people. We repeatedly had to ask the wait staff for menu, drinks, the opportunity to order. Didn’t get food for over an hour. And it was expensive for what we received.

Dec 9th 2025 Tuesday 5:00PM We had a great time dining on Soto's patio again. We love this restaurant, food was great, staff were great and the Dog Friendly patio, we couldn't have asked for more. Our large 100LBS Black Shepherd stole the show as staff all came out for pictures with our well mannered dog PoCo. You can bet our next trip to Tubac will include Soto's.
