A golf course designed to use the spare land between 90s condo communities. Without a shadow of a doubt, this was one of the most poorly designed courses I've ever played. I won't be able to fit the full list here, but just imagine tee shots that must land within a 5 yard area or else they'll disappear into the woods. Double dog leg par 5's. Blind landing areas with fairways that kick everything into oblivion. This course doesn't just punish bad shots, it punishes even the best of shots. The only thing this course was missing was a windmill and laughing clown. It's seriously not enjoyable, and that's coming from a CT golfer surrounded by their fair share of wonky layouts. Even the greens were essentially turtle shells. If you didn't land and stop it in the dead center of every green, you
What an interesting course. I played here for the first time on a very early Sunday morning and what a nice surprise! One of the best value for money in the area. The layout is varied with a lot of elevation, doglegs to the right and left, very decent fairways and very beautiful greens that are fast and a bit devilish. I will definitely be back!
First time, I was really looking forward to playing here and became disappointed at the overall design and layout of the course. Way too many hills and blindspots for the average golfer. In addition every green was wavy and situated like a dome, easy to roll off. Fairways are tight and wooded all around. Get ready to lose balls. Mostly dirt and rocky cart paths with poor signage for holes and no water or cart girl while playing. There was nobody on the course which said something about the place. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and the restaurant/lounge had good food and also was nice inside. Seemed like a nice place to have a party.
We had a very disappointing experience at this course unfortunately. The starter and staff were excellent and very friendly but the course itself left a lot to be desired. It was our first time playing this course and was unfamiliar with the layout. There was no course map showing the holes and for the price we paid, I would have hoped for a GPS cart or at the very least, something on the scorecard showing the hole layouts. It seemed like every hole was a sharp dogleg that had very little aesthetics to it. Hit a drive 180 to 200 yards down hill and now you’re left with who knows what going back up a hill to a blind green. There were several holes where we all hit shots right down the center of the “fairway” only to lose those balls to unknown hills and slopes that would kick your ball in
Somers National Golf Club is an absolute gem. The course is beautifully maintained, offering a great mix of challenging holes and scenic views. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in the grounds—everything from the fairways to the greens is in excellent condition. The layout of the course is both fun and strategic, with elevation changes and well-placed hazards that keep you thinking throughout the round. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just out for a casual game, there’s something here for everyone. The clubhouse and facilities are also top-notch. The staff is friendly, professional, and always willing to help, which makes the overall experience even better. And after a round, grabbing a bite or drink on the patio with views of the course is the perfect way to unwind. Highly recommen
