Slice House by Tony Gemignani

Plain and simple: a nice variety of pizza types, and their NY versions are fantastic. The taste and texture of the crust is as good or better than the best in NYC. The only type missing compared with other Tony Gemignani places is Neapolitan, I guess because there's not enough space for the special super hot oven, or more likely the type doesn't sit well to be served later as slices. Second visit update: Got an "America's Finest Slice". It featured a superb crispy sesame seed crust with a nice cornicione, but overall the slice was a bit too dry and the flavor of the sauce could not be discerned (The cheese slice I got last time suffered from the same dryness). It's supposed to have Italian Pizzutello Tomato, but it only had a microscopic piece that added nothing to the overall flavor. The

Slice House is a really strong option in an area with no shortage of pizza spots. The pizza is well made across the board — a nicely cooked crust with good structure, flavorful sauce, and toppings that feel balanced rather than overdone. This is the kind of pizza other places nearby should be aiming for. And honestly, if this shop were on the East Coast, it wouldn’t feel out of place at all. That’s high praise without being over the top. All in all, it’s an easy 5-star pizza for Southern California and a place I’d happily return to when I’m in the neighborhood.

Really good pizza, good atmosphere, and they serve alcoholic drinks ! This location has a small indoor dining and large outdoor dining area which is perfect for larger parties I’ve gone to two other locations, Tony’s in San Fran and pizza rock in Las Vegas. Was super excited to hear Tony opened a location in San Diego. Wasn’t disappointed, definitely recommend, incomparable to other pizza spots in Little Italy 🇮🇹

Open fairly late and had plenty of pizza options! Their Sicilian pizzas were amazing. The staff was friendly and patient as we figured out what we wanted to eat after dinner (lol) and drinks. They had ample space to eat inside and out. This wasn’t on my pizza list for San Diego but I quickly added it after this visit. Everyone in our group was highly satisfied and would absolutely recommend a visit. Can’t wait to come back!

My favorite pizza spot in San Diego! The pizza here is very good and flavorful. The pepperoni is very thick and flavorful and so is the sausages, the issue I have at slice house is that it is VERY hard to find a table inside and we were a party of 3. Since there was no tables inside to fit 3 people we had to sit far outside from the restaurant. Staff was nice.
