We had the beef cheek appetizer and it was the highlight of the meal for me. Really good. Wife had the chicory salad with grilled chicken and it was pretty standard but good with some nice additions like goat cheese and dried figs. I had the braised beef short rib and it was tender and really good. We shared the bread pudding and it was not the best I’ve ever had, but it was quite nice. Service was really good and attentive without being too much. Servers were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself is small but has a great historic vibe. A little loud when full but not too bad.

If I could give 10 stars I would. What a charming, delightful restaurant. The service and food were outstanding at this establishment. We started off with a charcuterie board which had soppressata, prosciutto, 2 types of cheeses, cornichon and a sweet tasty jam. In addition we had the octopus which was absolutely delicious. For our entrees I had the pork shank which was fall off the bone delicious. It was so delicious, I loved it. My girlfriend had the duck pot pie which she really loved. Our friends ordered the short rib and the shrimp linguini. Everyone was so impressed with the great flavors and the expert playing. For dessert we had the angel food cake, tiramisu and bread pudding. My husband and myself ate here for our 15th wedding anniversary and it was fabulous. Our waitress Sarah was amazing. She was so charming, professional and knowledgeable. The food was great, but the dessert… “sticky cake” was STUPENDOUS! I’ve never had a dessert made with dates and gelato. Do yourself a favor and try it. I ordered it but we both ate it up in about 5 minutes, it was ridiculously good!

100% would recommend the brunch! The blueberry lemon pancakes were delicious and melt in your mouth good. The 1886 Classic was delicious and the perfect embodiment of a classic breakfast. Jay and the staff were attentive and very nice. The atmosphere felt like being in a speakeasy. Definitely a place to go to!

This is a beautiful hidden gem on sixth Street with amazing food, great cocktails, and top-notch service. We came here on the weekend of the San Diego, rodeo, and ducked in on Sunday night after the concert. Even though it was close to closing time, they were very gracious with us, and everything from start to finish was excellent. We had a couple of cocktails, each, they had a decent selection of wines, and I had the lasagna and brussels sprouts, which were both outstanding, and my wife got the salmon and the broccolini. Again, both were excellent. For dessert, we had the bread pudding and it was delicious too. The cocktail menu is filled with their own creations, and our server Sarah made us feel like family. Can’t wait to come back here!
