Skaneateles Library

Rude, unfriendly desk staff. White haired lady didn’t want to help me print fine. Told me I needed to do it myself. I don’t work there and don’t know their system. Short brown haired lady came up to desk and when I tried to get her to help said she wasn’t front staff and walked away! Learn some manners people! I teach my children to be polite! I don’t want them coming to a library and learning how to be rude! You want us to pay for a new library? Why? So you can be rude to us for higher salaries? We don’t need a new library we need new employees who like other humans!

Library Board Meetings are MONTHLY public events and I encourage anyone paying taxes in the Skaneateles School District to attend. I attended the February 2026 meeting and was glad I did. Yes, they will be asking for another library tax increase in addition to previous ones. They consider this an “insignificant” in comparison to others. Sadly, not everyone in the school district has the same financial resources and for them it may be significant. This may be especially true for communities in Cayuga County that already pay taxes for 2 libraries. Although, I truly support improvements at any library- I have to question why Skaneateles deserves the $1.5 million library grant (the majority slated for Onondoga County apparently) when there are so many other communities with far less than we

I met a lady today who said she's going through a dispute against the library here at this location, her daughter returned a Hotspot late and so now they're charging her 300 dollars and are refusing to take it back!! Nothing wrong with the device, so I just believe that's extremely unacceptable. I've never heard of a library charging something so expensive over a minor mistake. To rent the device was only 35 dollars. To make this family stress out is just wrong and I hope the folks who work at the library giving her a hard time, resolve this issue immediately.

Cute little library. Unfortunately their speakers are very unprofessional And often seem unprepared. The library does try to offer a variety of activities for children but only lectures elderly. Hope this improves at the new location. They have plenty of funding and staff.

Excellent! A small library but with a super amazing group of Librarians. Made my kids feel welcomed and they enthusiastic about becoming members. Really a Gem!
