Simma's Bakery

Like many people in Milwaukee, I am a big fan of Simma’s. I am usually the fortunate recipient of someone else’s tasteful and generous dessert selection at parties, and I have never been disappointed. This time, I made a trip to Simma’s to pick up a few items of my own for a party this weekend. I originally planned to get a small cheesecake but decided instead on four different dessert squares. With the help of the friendly staff (thanks, Jeremy), I put together a great assortment that is sure to please. In addition to the bakery items, they also carry party supplies such as cards, decorations, and napkins, along with packaged chocolate confections. Simma’s Bakery: One of Milwaukee’s renowned bakeries, Simma’s first opened in 1982. The bakery was founded by a Russian immigrant that lends her name to the bakery. After Simma’s death, the bakery was sold by her daughter to the Carollo family, who still run the bakery today. I’ve had Simma’s before, but it was back around 2013. For this review, it’s a version of their cheesecake that was used as a cake at a friend’s wedding. Simma’s cheesecake is not a typical plain old New York Style but instead incorporates multiple layers and some non-traditional aspects. We used Simma's for our wedding bakery and were beyond thrilled with the results. We did a decorated marble tiered cake along with two additional sheet cakes (red velvet and the classic Simma's cheesecake). All were delicious and guests told us they went back for second, third, and even fourth servings. We found the prices very reasonable compared to other choices in the Milwaukee market, and knew that Simma's reputation for quality would help ensure we had a great wedding day.

Simma’s Bakery is really going downhill when it comes to customer satisfaction. My husband and I ordered a 10‑inch marble cake for around $60.00 for his birthday, and we did not receive what we ordered. We specifically requested chocolate buttercream inside a marble cake, yet they used vanilla buttercream instead. This has become a repeated issue. Whenever we make modifications to a cake order, Simma’s adds the changes to the invoice, but the final product never reflects what we requested. We have continued to support them over the years, hoping things would improve, but they consistently get our customized orders wrong. It’s extremely disappointing and shows a clear lack of attention to detail. They did take 15% off and reimbursed $9.00, but that doesn’t address the ongoing problem. Giv

The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, and they had tons of options for party treats and desserts. The Raspberry Mousse cake was absolutely delicious—truly a standout! The customer service was top‑tier, making the experience even sweeter. Although the price was a bit over my budget, I definitely felt it was worth every penny, especially for a last‑minute treats & Cake. I’ll definitely be back for more delightful goodies!
