Service was very good. Our waitress was friendly & helpful. Atmosphere is cozy. We ordered the gator bites. If they aren't cooked right, they can turn out chewy & tough & unfortunately these were so we couldn't eat them. The gumbo was ok. You can pick if you want a dark or light roux & I chose dark. The roux was burnt. We also ordered the seasoned boiled shrimp & they were a little overcooked. The cocktail sauce was sweet & didn't have the traditional horseradish taste that we like. A little expensive for the quality of the food we received.
Nice little place to eat while traveling thru Livingston. It was lunchtime and I order the lunch plate and a cup of gumbo. My side order was the grits.
My husband and I went for lunch, and it being my first time there, I was excited to try the food. I do not know if the timing was off but the place was a bit morbid. Staff were all friendly though. Our waitress was tending to a lot of duties but still managed to keep our drinks full. The food, we had not one compliant. It was very well seasoned and flavorful. Will go back and this time will try for later in the evening for dinner. Sure to be more lively at that time.
I took my uncle there today and we both were craving seafood. Disappointed is an understatement. The place smelled musty when we walked in and it was downhill from there. From the appetizer to the main course. We ordered the Magnolia pedals (fried onion), crawfish bites, fried shrimp and fried catfish. It all smelled and tasted like old grease. The hushpuppies too. Horrible. The only thing good was the Mac and cheese. I paid $76.42 and it was terrible. I do not recommend this place at all.
Red beans, sausage, and rice were very flavorful. Dirty rice and Mac and cheese were really good too. Rest of the family seemed to like their dishes. Wish the cocktail sauce had more of a kick. Thought the conversation starters in the middle of the table were neat. Got everyone talking about family stories we hadn’t heard from each other before.
