Shokudo Sake Bar

Shokudo Sake Bar in Glastonbury is a beautiful all-you-can-eat sushi spot — modern, spacious, and great for a girls’ night. The sushi was the star, hands down. Appetizers we tried: • Kani salad – really good • Chicken gyoza – AMAZING, favorite appetizer • Shrimp tempura – had potential, but came cold and the sauce lacked flavor • Crispy calamari – cold and drenched in a sauce that tasted more like BBQ than eel sauce • Crab meat tempura – surprisingly good • Chicken katsu – good base, but overwhelmed by sauce • Fried oysters – delicious without the sauce • Miso soup – okay, but missing flavor I think a lot of the appetizers would be better if sauces were lighter or served on the side. Sushi (immaculate): • Shrimp tempura roll • Spicy crab roll ⭐️ (one of my favorites) • Rock n Roll roll

I ended up coming here two separate times with two different friends ironically enough in one week because they both wanted sushi and both wanted it from here. I’ve never been before, and can confirm they have some of the best lychee martinis around. And their sushi. Wow. It’s so fresh, and so filling, I am full after 3 rolls. Their rolls are jam packed with ingredients and beyond tasty, and I love their ice cream as well. Def a new fave sushi spot of mine in CT.

Best sushi I have ever eaten! I thought I hated sushi, turns out I just hated bad sushi! I have eaten here a dozen times now, both for take out and dine in. Mai Tais are good, or chose from their wall of saki. I love their jalapeño yellowtail appetizer, spicy yellowtail roll and their many special rolls. I believe the bonzai may be my fave but I haven’t tried them all yet! Ivan is a sushi genius! Put this place on your “must go” list. For non sushi eaters, the tonkatsu is yummy!
