Sam's Southern Eatery Waco TX

Stopped here to grab lunch to go. The restaurant seems to have been around for a while, definitely has that mom n pop feel so a bit dated. However the food was great, I am a picky fish eater and it had a good consistency and flavor, the french fries were great. The red beans were okay had a hint of oily taste to it, but overall good. Also ordered the apple pie, I thought of it as an apple pie slice but its like the one from the fast food chain. It was good, deep fried, crispy and sweet. The cost was very affordable for a good amount of food. Cashier was friendly and the wait for my order was acceptable. I would recommend giving this place a try!

This is a casual dining place ..the food was good!!! I do wish they had home brewed sweet tea, but the fried shrimp was pretty good and the fried okra was GREAT!!!

Food is decent. But depending who takes your order, you'll get horrible customer service that'll destroy your appetite and/or be told that the prices changed (after your card is already run). Three out of the eight times I last went, supposedly the prices increased "a week ago". Just go a few blocks down the street and eat at D&J's Seafood. Cooked to order and they never miss on flavor and consistency.

Just go try it, you wont be disappointed. The nice lady at the window said "you want that fried or grilled baby". When she said that, I felt so warm and welcomed. Love yall! I get it to-go though so I can't say much about the restaurant itself but honestly, I really dont care about how the dinning room looks because the food and service makes up for it.

I used to love this place in Waco, but today was officially my last visit. I understand prices increase over time, but every time I come, my usual order costs more and more. I always get the kids’ fish meal with okra, and now I’m being told okra is considered an appetizer and can’t even be included as a side anymore which honestly makes no sense. I ended up paying $11.90 for lunch and had to settle for a side I don’t even want because I refused to pay an extra $2 just for okra. That alone was frustrating, but to make matters worse, the fish was extremely soft and falling apart, nothing like the quality I used to get here. Very disappointing experience overall. I really don’t understand these changes, especially when it pushes loyal customers away.
