Sals Sicilian Pizza & Restaurant

Came to SAL’S for the first time since moving to Gloucester. The service was great. We ordered the fried calamari to start, which was fantastic, along with meatballs, veal parm, penne with pink sauce, and garlic knots. To our surprise, Chef Mike was hard at work. However, all of the entrees came out barely warm. Since we were the only ones there for a bit, we expected everything to be steaming hot. Not a deal breaker—just disappointing. The meatballs were mushy inside and not that great. The veal parm, though, was impressive and came with almost a box of spaghetti—definitely a good portion for the price. We decided to give Sal’s a try after hearing new owners took over and gave this longtime Gloucester restaurant a much-needed overhaul. The difference is apparent as soon as one walks inside the dining room, which is now bright, airy and charming, and where customers pass a shiny Vespa scooter and spinning dessert case. Over the course of three visits, we found the service to be friendly and attentive —even on one Friday evening when the restaurant received an unexpected influx of large groups and kids. As for the food, the pasta dishes were flavorful, the thin hand tossed pizza crust was perfection, and portions were generous enough to have leftovers to take home. Lovely service. Clean and it smells great. We have come for lunch a few times since the change of ownership. Good pizza and the lunch specials are on point. Recommended!

Food is quite good, and at reasonable prices I’ll give it a 5. Lunch menu has lots of choices, at decent prices. Lots of variety on the full menu. Service is especially friendly and good, thanks to new owners, I think.

Absolutely Fantastic experience!! We were greeted with a smile! Our food was served hot, fresh and fast!! Delicious flavors at reasonable prices!! Their meatballs were So So Good!! Tortellini was Incredible!! Huge portions so plenty of leftovers!! 10 out of 10 for sure 😊
