Customer Reviews
No one does a diner like NJ and the Salem Oak Diner is the epitome of a treasure we are losing everyday. We drove past and did a turn around. Decent, hearty food, served by welcoming and accommodating staff. Clean as a whistle! A burger that was bigger than the large bun it came on, and a tuna BLT that had barely any filler and at least a quarter pound of bacon. The cream of potato soup was stick to your ribs but needed a little spice and a B&W milkshake. Nice local crowd for a Wednesday, good looking specials on the menu too. On the road and at the Diner!
Delicious food. Big portions and reasonable prices. My mom and I came from almost an hour away in Washington Twp. It took a little while to get waited on, but it was Sunday. Totally worth it. We’ll be back!
This place is a hidden gem! It’s not fancy or upscale, but it has that classic old-school American diner vibe that’s hard to find these days. The food was great, and the service was even better. I had the French onion soup, which was delicious, and the chicken tenders—highly recommend! And best of all, the prices can’t be beat.
This is a classic diner experience. It is careworn but clean, and service is great. Eggs over medium were done perfectly. Cheese omelette also done nicely, but cheese was only in the middle, so a lot of bites with no cheese. Potatoes were crispy but surprisingly dry. Pork roll portion was generous (3 slices) but overdone and therefore dry. So overall good but not great experience.
A rare example of the all American diner - airstream build diner with functional.wheelbase, friendly patrons who have been visiting since the diner opened in 1954 (!!), kind wait staff who give you extra servings of pickled beets, and great sugar cured ham steaks, and bread pudding. Too bad that the table top juke boxes no longer work !
