Rustic Root

Rustic Root truly does everything right. From their farm-to-table concept to their perfectly curated seasonal menu; everything is always fresh, beautifully prepared, and cooked to perfection. I always start with the skillet cornbread but have tried so many of the other delicious apps. Most recently I had their pumpkin rice balls with chipotle maple aioli and wow. Love at first bite! My go-to entrée is the roasted chicken with black garlic mashed potatoes — hands down one of my favorite meals anywhere. It’s comforting, flavorful, and consistently outstanding. I asked for this exact meal right after giving birth to my son on Long Island — that’s how special it is to me! Last but certainly not least, dessert. So I’ve been to this place a few times before and was always a great experience. However, tonight I ordered the rib roast over vegetable hash special and when it came out, it was not a rib steak cut. It was at best sirloin roast or top sirloin roast. I had one piece of it and don’t get me wrong, it was a delicious piece of steak however, right away I knew it was not a cut of ribeye. I asked the the waitress about the situation and she was not sure and sent over the manager. The manager gave me lip right away, so I asked speak to the chef. The chef came out. I spoke to him about the situation and he lied to my face, saying that that was in fact, a rib roast with the fat cap cut off…… who orders a rib roast or a ribeye steak with the fat cut offI asked myself and him… his answer was… “most

Visiting from the city and stopped by Rustic Root for brunch. The space is spacious and cozy with cute rustic decor, and service was attentive and friendly. Mediterranean salad vinaigrette and yogurt dressing were both solid, but the mix felt unbalanced. There was way too much romaine compared to the small amount of cucumber, tomato, and feta. The pita on the side was too bland; maybe some crunchy pita chips or even lightly oiled bread would’ve worked better. The avocado toast came with an avocado purée rather than slices, which was okay, but I think fresh sliced avocado would’ve been more satisfying. Overall, the vibe and service were lovely, and maybe it’s good for once in a while if you’re in the area, but food-wise, it didn’t fully land for me.

We visited Rustic Root for the first time this afternoon and we loved every minute! We brought our two young kids, who were generally content with one of the restaurant’s delicious, fresh brownies. We had the pumpkin rice balls with this amazing aioli, which were the most delicious appetizer in the world. Could have eaten a dozen easily. For our meals we had the cinnamon sugar French toast (delicious!) and the burger (fries were top notch). The Girl on Fire drink was on fire - very enjoyable. Overall, the food was fresh and delicious. The restaurant was warm, welcoming, and had a great vibe like you could really be comfortable there. Service was above and beyond. Overall, incredible experience. We’re looking forward to visiting again!

Went to this restaurant for lunch while in NY the other week. Both food and service were good.
