Roots Restaurant & Bar

Tried Roots for the first time and OMG have I been missing out. The atmosphere is a cool vibe, the service was on point, friendly and timed perfectly. Now the food...I can't even say enough how freaking delicious the food was!!! If you haven't gone, GO!!

It was my first time dining at this restaurant. I don't often crave for steak, but Roots would definitely won me over for their tasty steaks. They offer only medium to medium-rare. I would prefer something a little bit more done. But their steaks definitely do not disappoint. I have been to other steak houses in the Portland area. Roots beats other famous Portland steak houses by their flavor, tenderness, service, atmosphere and portion size. However, their menu items are quite pricey. My steak was nicely cooked and seasoned. The mashed potato and veggies were excellent. They topped the steak with couple pickled onion rings which was quite refreshing. And don’t forget the garlic infused butter served with the steak. Loved the whole experience. Husband and I had our 3rd date night since our new baby arrived! I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the steak. It looked so good and I was too hungry. 🤤

Roots has amazing cocktails & food. Service has always been stellar and consistent. The ambiance is comforting and modern—dim lighting, soft music, and romantic atmosphere. Rich was our first & favorite server. Roots is hands down one of the best places to have a romantic dinner in Camas. The booth seating is cozy. Restrooms are clean & well maintained. Parking is always plenty. I'll post more pics as we continue to stop by... especially for the seasonal menu items.

I really wanted to like this place because the food was pretty good and the service was okay. However, I couldn't enjoy a single bite. The restaurant had no background music or it extremely quite in the room near the kitchen, which meant every single noise from the kitchen—clattering plates, banging pots, and clinking glass—was amplified and 'injected' straight into my brain. It was incredibly stressful. I mentioned the noise level to the waiter, but they didn't seem to care or offer to move us. Sadly, the lack of atmosphere ruined the dinner. At a restaurant in our town where a main course costs $70, I expect a curated atmosphere.
