River Road Bed and Breakfast

The cabin is absolutely beautiful and in such a peaceful, lovely setting. Joyce and John were incredibly welcoming, lovely to talk to and so kind. They called up and got us reservations for dinner the second we mentioned we didn't have a table booked and it was a busy night. Breakfast was delicious and nutritious and Joyce gave us tasty muffins for the road; so thoughtful. Our room was comfortable and charming and we loved sitting on the porch with J and J, watching the birds and the beautiful pup. This was a fantastic stay; thank you Joyce and John!

This is an excellent B&B to stay at. A very relaxing and enjoyable place - John and Joyce make you feel right at home. Their log home has a wonderful country atmosphere if you are looking for something off the beaten path. We enjoyed sitting on the wrap around porch, watching many different kinds of birds on their bird feeders and watching their dog, Maggie, play with the Frisbee. The room is very clean and the very beds comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and Joyce even sent us off with two muffins for the road. We highly recommend this B&B and plan to stay here again if we are ever in Mitchell SD.

Great first experience at a bed and breakfast! Comfortable, clean, and welcoming. Kids enjoyed the space to run around and visit with the local mini donkeys! Our dogs enjoyed the open space. Joyce and John were amazing. Comfortable beds and a nice big bathroom. Excellent Breakfast to send us out on our way.

My family and I took the opportunity to stay with Joyce & John on the way to and from our family vacation in the Black Hills and I must say it was a good choice as we felt very much like we were at home. ||||Joyce & John were very accommodating. Their log cabin home overlooking the James River was very nice with plenty of room for all 4 of our family including our 2 teenagers.||||Breakfast was excellent both days as was Joyce’s apple bake and chocolate chip cookie bars when we first arrived each night. ||||For bird watcher’s John has a bird feeder that attracts pretty much every local bird you want to watch including a pretty cool woodpecker, so there is no shortage of things to entertain while sitting on their deck before breakfast.

Hands down the most charming rustic cabin I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. I am a Minnesota girl, born and bred, and I definitely felt that "up North" feel in every detail of River Road B & B. Not only is every nook and cranny of the house well though out and delightful, but the property is gorgeous --the perfect combination of well groomed yet wild and beautiful. My daughter and I arrived late at night, travel worn and weary, and Joyce was the most congenial hostess welcoming us with cold drinks and treats. The beds we extremely comfortable and the house was peaceful. The next morning Joyce fixed us a breakfast of cooked to perfection french toast, bacon, scrumptious fresh fruit (including amazingly perfect ripe peaches), yogurt and granola. Joyce even sent us off with some ban
