Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

I have been going to this Rita’s for as long as I can remember. The quality and available options always far exceed my expectations. The service is always incredible, which is why it is so upsetting that I can’t leave electronic tips. People rarely carry cash nowadays and other Ritas I go to always have the option for electronic tips. I’d like to see this change in the future.

Rita’s was a key part of my childhood growing up in Hockessin. It’s still good as an adult! I love the fresh fruit flavored water ices.

Just had a bizarre experience here. I ordered two Misto shakes (a classic Rita’s item that has water ice and custard blended into a shake). I received them and clearly there was no custard in either. I go back and ask a different girl if there was any custard added and she explained that there are now two types of mistos- one with custard and one without. I didn’t know this and the girl who took my order never asked which I wanted and just made it without. When I asked the second girl if custard can be added afterward to fix them, she told me no and gave me a look as if there’s nothing they can do even though I expressed that I’ve ordered a Misto several times before and there’s always custard. I would understand this attitude if this mistake was my fault, but it wasn’t. I go back and ask

They have the Best Italian ice I’ve taste so far. The staff is friendly, professional and caring to customers needs. There is enough parking and they have outdoor seating. We will be going back again.

Me and dad go here when it’s a nice hot day and we’re relaxing outside enjoying the weather. Nothing beats a Rita’s milk shake in the late evening hanging out with family.
