Redford Township District Library

Libraries here in Michigan are insanely beautiful. I’m here for work and haven’t been to a bad library yet. This one is spacious and airy, teen sections and children’s sections spread out. Quiet sections and adult sections. Tons of chairs and spaces to work. It’s perfect for remote workers like myself even offering a space just to eat. Wish all libraries were like this!!! Some more comfortable chairs would be a nice addition though.

This is probably my favorite library to visit with my toddler! The kids area upstairs is massive with many different learning activities and toys. The room with the green hills and a climbing wall is great for getting out some energy, the train/magnetiles/kitchen nook is great for playing together and sharing, and then there are many learning stations which have toys to practice buckles, magnets, etc. And don’t sleep on the light wall- it’s fun to change the colors and create fun designs! I love going places with the toddler that I don’t have to be like “don’t touch that” and this is one of them!

I love the library and this spot. I definitely like to surround myself with books and what I love daily. They are easily a borrowed spot and very reasonable timing for timing out books to go. Usually I find what I'm looking for more at the Redford location of libraries. Hopefully there are great summer events coming fourth for maybe spring and summer!

The Redford library and I go way back. I was a kid when it was built and loved it then. I would walk there everyday after school and enjoy the cafe then work on my schoolwork. Now almost twenty years later-I can say I’m VERY impressed and PROUD of what they have done with it. The remodel is amazing. I can’t say enough about it. It’s by far the best library we have been too. It’s clean, interactive and beautiful. So many things for the littles to do, look at and enjoy. We will be here all the time. Can’t wait to go back.

The kids' play area upstairs is very vibrant and full of fun things to do for ages 2-12. Older kids do tend to "take over" the younger kids' area, but librarians almost always step in. There is a green screen but some unsupervised kid tore a hole in it. There is also a light wall that is fun. There are private rooms you can go to for some peace and quiet. Great tutoring spots. Loads of books but kids treat the space more like a playground than a library. Maybe that was the goal? They need to address that. The parents don't always supervise their kids. The space is pretty clean though. Bathrooms are always nice. Plenty of events to sign up for. Overall, it's a need to go place.
