Rambling River Mercantile

I stumbled across Rambling River Mercantile during the holidays when I decided to pre-order a smoked ham instead of cooking, and I've been going back ever since. I have LOVED everything we've had - food/pastries/coffee, you name it. If you're a transplant like we are, check out their Taste of Upstate NY menu on select Friday nights. It's so good 😭

This is the best kept secret in Alamance County! Our family loves a mom & pop place and this establishment is just that! Local folks, producing delicious food with an amazing atmosphere. I watched this business pivot during covid and turn this into whatit is today. I've eaten here a few times, food is always top tier. I have also placed special orders with their phenomenal baker and she makes ordering a breeze everytime! I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great place to get delicious food 😋

I travel 45 minutes once a month for their fish fry!! It is out of this world! I’m from Wisconsin where we have fish fries every Friday and I’d been searching for something close to what I’m used to and this place hits the nail on the head. The fish is big enough for two meals!! And it’s crunchy on the outside and juicy and flaky on the inside. It is mouthwatering!!! I wish they had it every Friday. I’ve had other things to eat here that are also yummy, but the fish is my absolute favorite! And the staff is over-the-top, friendly, helpful and just lovely. It’s well worth my travel time!!

This place is a hidden gem! The baker/barista is SO creative and comes up with the best baked goods and desserts - I am always looking forward to trying everything she does! The atmosphere and small shop is so great, and they have so many local gifts and such to buy. If you haven't been - GO! I promise you will want to go back!

Love this restaurant! I would give it 10 stars if I could. Great food, friendly/family atmosphere. They take customer service to the highest level. They have many special event offerings. They are a mercantile as well with many locally made items. They offer catering, food truck and sincerely appreciate customer input, in fact they request it. Very reasonably priced! They have a grab and go refrigerated section. 100% Sanitation Rating which is a rare find in many restaurants. This small business has been successfully created and is ran by a wonderful family.
