My Father grew up in PG and would always talk about this place and how nostalgic it was for him. I ended up in the area today after my daughter's Marching Band Competition and thought we'd come check it out. I can honestly say I understand the hype! It was delicious! The food was hot, fresh, and so good. Also, the prices were great! I ordered the pastrami burger and subbed my fries for tots (obviously the superior potato choice) and I loved it! I can't wait to go back!
I used to love this place they had great shakes and really good food. I used to drive out of my way to go to Purple Turtle. As time has gone by it has gotten pretty bad. Today i went and got an oreo shake and english chips. The english chips were way over cooked i ended up throwing away the last half. The oreo shake had zero oreo's in it. It was more like a vanilla shake with some oreo dust sprinkled in. This is too bad it has dropped off from what it used to be. I would strongly suggest going elsewhere for a good shake and or food.
I snagged a Turtle Pastrami Burger for lunch today, and it was pretty enjoyable. The pastrami had good flavor, but IMO it wasn’t piled high enough—I’ll probably pay for extra next time. The burger patty itself was a bit thin, but overall the flavors worked well together. The drive-in and parking lot setup here is a little confusing if it’s your first visit. I also did a mobile order and went through the drive-thru to pick it up, but the employee seemed really confused about it (LOL, not sure why).
The Purple Turtle in Pleasant Grove has been a local favorite for years, and it’s easy to see why. I had the chicken strips and onion rings—both were really good. The onion rings are different than most, with a tasty batter that stands out. Their shakes are also delicious. Classic spot that’s stood the test of time.
Old fashioned burgers that have been made with the same great quality since I've had them from 35 years ago, I also really enjoy their fish and chips. Most of all, I really love their onion rings! They are coated with thin layer crispy breading and fried until the onions are soft and sweet, perfect with the special pink sauce they got since the first time I've had it. Inside of the restaurant has their signature perple color scheme and is always clean and well maintained. Staff are super friendly and helpful. For 35 years, it's is still a place I would frequent often.
