Pubbelly Sushi

I really enjoyed this place! We went on a Friday night & staff were super friendly and attentive. The food was so delicious, especially the octopus! My mouth is watering thinking about it… we also really enjoyed the happy hour nigiri and the yellowtail soy paper roll (can’t recall the name). The TUNA PIZZA is actually amazing, no notes. Just get it. The big eye tuna roll is like a tuna crispy rice which is good but rice could be better, kinda gets stuck in ur mouth. The happy hour crispy salmon roll is yummy too, like a jb tempura on crack. Big portion for happy hour too! Overall, i definitely recommend this place! Such a great addition to the plaza. Pubbelly Sushi absolutely blew us away. From the moment we sat down, our server Jim made the entire experience amazing. She was friendly, attentive, and really helped guide us through the menu. If you go there, definitely ask to sit in Jim’s section — she made our night. Unfortunately I didn’t take pictures of the food because we were too busy enjoying it, but every single roll we ordered was incredible. Not one bad dish from start to finish. It’s rare to go to a restaurant where every single thing that comes out is perfect, but that was the case here. The highlight of the night was the dessert — the banana miso bread pudding. Other restaurants were more crowded, so we decided to try our luck here. They said there were no tables available, but we said we could sit at the bar. However, we noticed that the empty tables weren't reserved, but were just a marketing tactic. We sat at the bar for over an hour, and no one came to those tables. :) The bartenders were friendly; they first offered and explained their recommendations from the menu. This was quite nice. The sushi we tried was generally delicious and fresh. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the cocktails. The presentation was nice, but the content was poor. I found the automatic 20% service charge added to the bill ridiculous. Tipping should be optional, not mandatory. Besides, the prices are expensive compared to the standards of many sushi restaurants

Service and vibe were honestly great. The space is lively, fun, and our server was incredibly sweet and attentive. No complaints there at all. Now for the food. I really wanted to love it, but I just did not get the hype… Everyone online says the butter Krab roll is a must try, and that is what brought me in. For me, it just missed the mark. It is imitation krab, and while the menu calls it butter Krab, the description says crab, which felt a bit misleading. The rolls are also huge. You only get four oversized pieces instead of six to eight normal sized rolls, and they were hard to eat. I would much rather have real crab and smaller, more balanced bites. Unfortunately, nothing special. Expectations were higher. I would not recommend the soups — they were quite mediocre and lacked flavor. However, some rolls were good: Dragon Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Butter Crab Roll are worth trying. Overall, decent, but nothing outstanding.
