Potomac Fish House

My first impression walking into Potomac Fish House was pretty basic. Nothing really stood out inside—no real seating, just a bench to wait for your food. Two people were already sitting there eating, which left everyone else standing around waiting. But honestly, that’s not why I came. I ordered the catfish platter—about $18 with potato wedges and coleslaw—and couldn’t wait to get home. I ended up sitting in my truck and eating three pieces right there, still saving two pieces to bring home for my girl. The fish was buttery, cooked just right, and absolutely worth the wait. Simple setup, but the food speaks for itself. I’d definitely go back for the catfish!!!

I’ve been coming to Potomac Fish for many years and have known the owner for a long time. My family has supported this establishment for decades, so writing this is disappointing. Today I ordered a fish dinner, which has always come with two pieces of fish. Instead, I was given only one. When I politely asked about it, the owner’s son responded in a dismissive and somewhat smart way, as though I didn’t know what I ordered. The interaction became uncomfortable enough that the entire room went quiet while it was happening. That’s never a good sign in a neighborhood restaurant. The issue wasn’t just the missing piece of fish — it was the attitude that came with a simple question. Longtime customers shouldn’t feel like they’re being talked down to. Excellent fried fish! You pick the fish , they weight it and and cook it for you. Real fresh, fast and tasty. Great guy working the front. The prices are very reasonable also.

If you want fresh seafood, Potomac Fish House is the place! I purchased fried croacker, it was fresh and delicious! My order came with fried potatoes and coleslaw. Potatoes were perfectly fried and well seasoned!

They have a variety of fresh seadfood crabs lobsters fish oysters etc.....The fish is NOT frozen bagged(i personally dont like) ...You get to pick fresh fish from freezer...They cut clean & fry whatever you pick on the spot...The Sandwich are about 12 bucks and platters are 17.00 served with 2 slices of bread coleslaw & potato wedges..
