Park ranger Steve Yonker was amazing to my husband and I. After a tree and power line fell down he came to the scene and helped block the road. I waited for my husband to come to help me turn around his truck with the down powerline and tree in my way. He was kind enough to stay there while I waited for my husband for about twenty minutes and to check in on me from time to time. Just a wonderful Park Ranger!
Had an amazing experience with Park Ranger Julie today at Bicentennial Park. Julie approached our granddaughter and two other children on the playground to make them "Junior Park Rangers" by giving them sticker "badges". A few minutes later she saw our granddaughter playing in a small pile of leaves and directed her to a much larger pile and interacted with us for about 15 minutes. Julie was friendly, sincere and obviously takes pride in her job. Thank you Julie and the City of Portage for providing our family with a special memory!
I live next to Lexington green Park and my property line has a split rail fence that the parks department installed that lines the border of the park and my home. I had to take down a dead tree and had to fall it into the park, so a part of the fence had to be removed so this could take place. Upon removing the rails, the cedar post just fell over due to the bottom of it rotting out from the moisture over time. Once the tree was gone, the parks department came and replaced the old post with a new one. Very nice guys and the did it pretty quick. Thank you to the parks department for keeping up on the maintenance.
Thank you, Portage Parks and Recs, for the awesome job you all are doing around town! Thank you for trimming down the trees on Bishop bog trail and installing a connector boardwalk to the eliason trail!
