Wow, this place has some great comfort food. Went in for a fried catfish po' boy and it did NOT disappoint. Generous piece of fish on a sturdy roll with just the right breading and seasoning. They offered some add-ins for a modest upgrade price ($1.75?) and they made the whole thing perfect. Friend had the fried chicken and fish platter with mac & cheese. We agreed it was the best mac & cheese we know of in Portland. I couldn't identify the cheeses, but they were well combined into an elevated experience. There was no oil separation, so they know their way around a bechamel. The blackened catfish was so good, I may do the blackened catfish po' boy next time instead of the fried, but such decisions can't be made ahead. They updated the space since last time I was there, and it is a comfor

Literally the best fried catfish in town!! Everything hit and there were no misses. And can we take a minute for the sweet tea? Because wow even that was immaculate. Please go here, this place deserves a line out the door!

On my most recent trip to Portland, Oregon, for the Street of Dreams with my daughter, we stopped in for a late lunch at Po’Shines Café De La Soul restaurant. Po’Shines is a storied historical, family-owned location in the Kenton district in Portland. These are my Favorite types of places to eat. And Po’Shines did not disappoint. I always gauge a Soulfood restaurant by how well they cook the grits, their greens, and their fried fish. I got the catfish Poboy and it was right up there with some of the best I’ve eaten. I still cannot figure out the vinegary condiments on top which I’m certain must’ve been some kind of pickled greens. It set off the sandwich in a way that I have not tasted before. Baby girl still wanted breakfast fare and she settled on the cheesy bacon grits with a side o

The best Soul Food in Portland! The sweet tea brought back memories of neighbors pouring me a glass on hot summer evenings. The collard greens will make even the pickiest kid eat their vegetables. The BBQ is perfection. I can't eat BBQ at most places because they just don't get it right! The black-eyed peas and rice reminded me of sitting at Big Mama's kitchen counter after school and chatting about everything while she made dinner for her family. The sweet potato pie is quite literally the best I've ever had. I've never met a sweet potato pie that I didn't like, but this stuff is what dreams are made of! The service was excellent. There aren't many places anymore where they all introduce themselves and talk about recipes passed down by their great-grandmother, or having a barbecue when th

We ate here and had a great meal and experience. We ordered two of the big plates so we could try a lot of variety in mains and sides and we loved all of it. The ribs, brisket, pulled pork and wings were all well seasoned, with big portions. We loved the sides. Especially the hush puppies, trinity greens and macaroni & cheese. The server and staff were all really friendly and attentive. We were too full for desert, so we took home peach cobbler and it was also delicious! We highly recommend if you’re looking for good soul food in Portland.
