Plainfield Area Public Library

I want to give a shout out to library for the most creative and fun indoor mini golf. Alice in Wonderland theme.I’ve been to quite a few mini golf but this one takes the cake . Literally. With interesting set up, to cos players playing the part. With theme food items in between. At the end they play the actual movie. Good job. Keep it up and see you next time. They did it again with Wizard of Oz theme. Don’t know how they do it but I’m always impressed.

Love the remodel !!! Love the access to a handicapped bathroom . I have a child with special needs and it makes it easier for myself to change her and have access to room and buttons . Have had a great experience using programs available for patrons and activities. Also love that there is a feature for parents who have recently had a baby or patrons who have a disability to have better access to checking in/out books. That is such a great feature. Only reason that I’m giving 4 is because of staff reception. I’ve had disappointing experiences with staff. It’s quite surprising since the library has always been a safe space but my experiences happened right before the remodel so I am crediting the stress staff faced could have been because of the remodel.

I like the new library however they charged me fees for their mistakes. One being a water damaged book that I never returned damaged so I have to buy it and $19.99 for a DVD that I returned and didnt get reimbursed for. So I suggest when you return books to take a video of you returning them damaged free and what you return so you don't get charged. Ridiculous.

The build out and remodel is amazing! Services have always been top-notch, now the facility is coming up to that level.

Update: January 2026 If you have not been to the library recently, definitely worth coming back in to see the renovation. They’ve done a lot of amazing things with the money they saved up. Kudos to the staff for their dedication and wanting to make Plainfield very public library a very pleasant experience. Check out the pictures and videos I have attached. A few years ago, there were plans to expand the library to accommodate the growing population and needs of Plainfield, Illinois residents. Those plans got killed by the powers to be unfortunately.
