Pizza Cottage

Came here with a party of five, ordered a pizza amongst numerous other meals, and the price was pretty reasonable. The atmosphere was laid back. We'd went at a time when the crowd was pretty minimal. Spacious seating, and clean. There are tons of televisions and a small but super nice bar that I could see being inviting for sports. Staff was friendly and efficient. We had no complaints regarding service or quickness of food. The pizza was absolutely fantastic. We just got basic two toppings, but it was crispy and full of taste. Definitely amongst the best in town. The other food, however, was very mediocre - specifically the Alfredo. Location is a pain. We went for date night to watch a College football playoff game, it was only on one TV and minimized to the upper left corner. I could not see it from our booth so I asked if they could put it on at the TV above our table. They never did, so instead of watching a College Football playoff bowl game we got to watch 8 different version of the daily news. I ordered a drink from the bar and it NEVER arrived the entire time we were there, the bartender was either leaning over looking at her phone or even sitting in the nearest booth at one point. While 1 girl waited on the entire dining room by herself... needless to say we never got refills on our fountain drinks either, but was pretty bummed out that I never got the Old Fashioned I ordered. First time visiting- wont be back. Poppers barely warm, came out with our pizza and garlic bread after waiting about 30 min and asking that to be an app. They forgot my husband's smash burger and my kids side salad. When I asked if they forgot the burger the waitress lied, went and threw it on the grill and bought it out 10-12min later in a small pizza box... literally nothing else. I took a picture because it was weird. She claims she is new and a waitress called off and none of this was her fault. It was the grill cooks fault for the burger. I was also given a dirty plate (took a picture of that too). When I voiced my concerns, they said they can only offer me a $5 off coupon for my next visit. We live over 2 hours away. My first visit since they’ve opened. We ordered Garden salad with chicken, chicken bacon ranch pizza and a kids cheese pizza. Unfortunately we were not impressed, the salad literally came with prepackaged Marzetti’s Italian dressing; it was ok overall. The pizza on the other hand wasn’t special, the cheese was a bit too sharp for a pizza and crust look like something you can get from a grocery store freezer. Our waitress was great and made the experience a bit better. I really hope they get better but for now, there’s a lot of better pizza options in Mt Vernon.

Everything was great last night. We tried a calzone... gelato... and a loaded baked potato pizza... now they were all memorable.
