Pithari Taverna

A pretty standard Greek restaurant. A great BYOB feature, with a classic all blue Greek interior. A nice raw fish bar, but was seemingly underutilized as no one ordered a whole fish. The dip sampler was quite good, the garlic dip was a bit bland in flavor, could have used more salt! The best dip was the spicy feta by far, perfectly creamy and tasty with the pita! The chicken gyro was well seasoned, the rice was a bit mushy, and again could have used some salt and a bit of extra cooking time! Prices were super fair, overall a good spot to stop by for a decent Greek meal!

Absolutely loved this place. My husband is super picky with food, especially Greek food, and this was 100% amazing. He literally talked about nothing else during our Valentine’s Day dinner other than how much he loved the food, how generous the portions were, and how sweet and accommodating the staff were. We didn’t even have a reservation and it was very busy but they gladly took us and we were in and out in about an hour.

Absolutely love this place! I’ve now had the grilled octopus appetizer two weeks in a row — it’s that good. Perfectly tender and flavorful, it’s a must-try. For my main, I had the chicken souvlaki with lemon potatoes, which was delicious and well-seasoned. The complimentary bread with olives is a great touch and pairs nicely with everything. The staff here are always warm, friendly, and accommodating. Service feels personal and relaxed, which makes for a really welcoming dining experience. It’s also BYOB, which is a huge plus! People who dine at Pithari Taverna always seem happy — maybe it’s the warm atmosphere, the delicious food, or the feeling of being part of something authentically Greek.

We ordered a soup and multiple dip appetizer. We held off on ordering entrees as we weren't in a hurry and we weren't sure we'd be hungry enough for them. The soup was excellent. The dip platter was very generously portioned. By the time we were done with the soup and dips, we were filled up. We had been watching entries brought to other tables. They all looked good and the portions, again, were very generous. I could easily imagine each entree being enough for at least two people. We had stopped in after attending a Rutgers football game. It had been a long day and we're weren't very hungry but we wanted to try this restaurant. I had been to the adjacent store using the Too Good To Go app and very much liked what I got l.

Pithari Taverna is a delicious, authentic Greek restaurant. The inside is very nicely decorated to fit the Greek ambiance. The menu had a good selection of traditional Greek specialties and seafood. I ended up ordering the beef & lamb gyro platter with green beans. I really enjoyed this meal. I also ordered a Greek salad, which contained tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives, and cheese. It was different, but tasted very good with its special dressing. Some delicious pita bread was served to the table. All the food tasted excellent, the service was good, and the prices weren’t bad. This is the place to go for a great Greek meal.
