I love this place and love having it in our neighborhood. The food is always excellent. I just wish… Despite loving the food, the service and dining room are quite crap. The servers are typically under trained young girls, sometimes polite and rarely good at their jobs. The open bar is orden dirty and centered around a television perpetually on and playing something random. Sometimes food, sometimes a car show, sometimes travel, punctuated by 3 adjacent tablet screens dinging with door dash orders every few minutes. There’s no music in the dining room so the dings of door dash are the only sounds outside of names and orders being called out for pick up. Tables and counters are rarely cleaned in reasonable time, you can almost always sit next to a table of dirty dishes. The dining room i
If you’re looking for the best pho in town. This is it. Their pho dac biet comes as it should with tripe and tendon in a perfectly balanced broth along with rice noodles, meatballs, and tender steak. Ample toppings were provided. The price for the delight it brought to me is unmatched in Boise. Only downside is that it’s a bit of a trek from where I live but I know each visit onward will be more than worth it.
Pho Nguyen in Boise is hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant I've tried in the area. Their pho is incredibly authentic, with a rich, flavorful broth that tastes just like the bowls I've had in Vietnam. However, the real standout for me is their grilled pork rice. The pork is perfectly seasoned and grilled, offering a savory and slightly smoky flavor that's absolutely delicious. While the dish is a bit on the oily side, it only adds to the richness, making each bite incredibly satisfying. Their spring rolls are another highlight—both the fried and fresh versions. The fried spring rolls are crispy without being greasy, and the fresh ones are packed with vibrant, fresh ingredients, making them a perfect appetizer or light meal. It’s clear that Pho Nguyen takes great care in preparing the
For the people looking for a Vietnamese person's review. I grew up eating in Westminster (Southern California) and now live near San Jose, CA. Pho and Bun Bo Hue are my favorite foods and I've eaten them from at least 50+ different restaurants each. I ordered the spicy beef noodle (Bún Bò Huế) and had my brother order the Phở so I could try. Both were great! Spicy beef noodle soup had a lot of good flavor. Meat good. Noodles good. Broth excellent. It's competitive and a bit better than your average Westminster/San Jose bowl of Bun Bo Hue which is far better than I was expecting. If I moved to Boise I'd have to live within a 15 min drive of this restaurant to be happy. I tried Pho Le in Boise which is good but Pho Nguyen is better. Service was good. I'll be back next time I'm in tow
The pho is great! We actually compare it to a place back in San Diego called Pho Cow. So far I’ve been to this location three times. The first time service was disappointing, we walked in and wasn’t greeted, we stood there a few minutes before finally asking if we seat ourselves and the young lady said “sit anywhere”, second time was a little better but still severely lacking in “customer service” and the third time we just opted for food to go and will probably stick to doing that. Again, the pho is great, it’s flavorful and a decent size serving. The only other item we’ve tried is spring rolls and it’s nothing to write home about and not something we’d order again. I would like to try more of their menu and if someone asked, I’d recommend this location solely for the Pho.
