Pete's Avalon's Plaza Cafe

Just happen to be in the area for happy hour. $1.50 great deal. NOPE. Deal is on chicken only which is not mentioned anywhere. Chicken was quite dry. Wanted to try out couple other things on the menu but since the tacos weren't good we just left.

I would have rated this place a 5 start, Not only because is the only fast food open in Catalina Island 24/7 you should be so rude (talking about the only employee attending at night shift that January 17, 2026) to rude.. other than that food is good, Carne asada fries, carne asada burrito..

Tacos and Beer! A great combination. The asada taco was a healthy portion of meat topped with fresh onion guacamole sauce. Tortilla held together and added a wonderful chew. Salsa has a nice heat. Smokey elements. Outside seating. And super fast and friendly service. 100% would come back.

Very rude to the point of chewing me out (his English was difficult to understand) when I calmly stood in line twice, after 2 groups of 2 people and one group of 3 people had ordered after me and been served, to ask if he was still working on my single taco. Very weird and unpleasant experience. Even just an acknowledgment that he had forgotten instead of his tirade would have been good. I recommend avoiding this place.

My visit to Pete’s Cafe was fantastic. It’s a great spot away from the hustle and bustle, which made it really relaxing. The selection of food was impressive, and their happy hour deals were unbeatable. We enjoyed the cheap tacos during happy hour and the big burrito. The atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even better. Highly recommend!
