Penn Steaks

Got to meet the owner Jeff who came out and was very cool. Gave us the insight that the meat is FRESH and never frozen and it tastes like it… incredible. Chef JC whips up a mean Cheese Steak the way it should be. Get the fries… they are AMAZING! A must see if you are near Penn State! Go for it!

I love cheesesteaks when they're made correctly, and Penn Steaks got it right! Truly excellent; I wish I visited this place sooner. Super fresh rolls with the right texture that have some give, some squish, but still held up well to being stuffed with the steak, cheese, and add-ins/sauce. Also good quality ribeye steak that's well chopped. I prefer mine with provolone and sweet peppers, along with marinara on top. But honestly, these cheesesteaks are good enough with just steak and cheese. The fries here are shoestring, which is perfect if you don't want soggy fries when you let them sit. Penn Steaks uses beef tallow which gives it a bit more savory taste. I'm not really into beef tallow for frying, yet I still enjoyed then. I'd still prefer Five Guys fries over these. But don't let that

This place came highly recommended to me. And it did not disappoint whatsoever. Best cheesesteak in State College, hands down. The whole place is a vibe and Lance was incredibly nice. 10/10 experience all the way around.

This was an amazing find! The cheesesteaks were delicious and the fries are so good they are addictive! Now the best of it all was the service! It felt like I was at my uncle’s backyard hanging with both blood relatives and chosen family!

Saw them on ESPN Gameday, never been here before, and decided to check it out with the new Owners and name change. The lady at the counter was awesome and we had fun chatting with her. The place is small and PSU themed. Great for parties of 2-4 people. Parking is on a nearby street or parking garage. The shoestring fries were great and crispy. I could have ate a bucket of those. I also ordered a 6" cheesesteak, with wiz and hot peppers/onions. The steak was dry and completely missing the wiz. Maybe they thought I asked for a "steak" sandwich because there was a cheese void. Even the picture looks like something's missing. Anyway, I hope it was a one-off -- I would give it another shot.
