Paine's Restaurant

The “go-to” family friendly restaurant in Hollister with classic meals, full bar and outstanding staff.

We made reservations and when we arrived we were seated immediately. This restaurant has a dining side and a bar side. It seems as though they also cater to large groups, which does make the noise level much louder. As we were leaving music in a back room began blasting. Our server was attentive. Bread is served to each table. Dinner was very delicious. I ordered cheese ravioli and asked for 2 meatballs to be added. Meatballs are $3 each and they. are. HUGE!!! My husband ordered filet mignon with a port reduction sauce. He said that it mostly tastes like beef gravy. The banana fosters was large and tasty.

Paine's went above and beyond for my wedding reception at a residential location. They responded promptly and professionally to my emails and all the questions I had. Their two servers, Monica and Natalia were excellent. The food was amazing. Everybody loved the calamari and tri-tip most. I would highly recommend for dining in or catering for any events.

We had a 6:00 reservation for 3. We were able to be seated at about 6:12 p.m. We ordered Coca-Cola to drink and received those quickly. Our waitress came by soon thereafter but we were not quite ready to order our meals because we were talking. She said she would be back, but no one came back for over 20 minutes to take our food order. That was the only glitch. I had the filet mignon. I ordered it medium rare, but it came a slight bit more medium, no blood. The taste was okay, it was wrapped in a nice slice of bacon, but that was really the only other flavor. But it was super tender. Came with garlic mashed potatoes, which were slightly drier than I'm used to. The vegetables were fantastic! Great place to go when you want something more than a burger or pizza, but not to fancy either. Good service and good food. Decent selection of local wines. The chicken piccata was awesome! The calamari steak was pretty darn good too.
