I had such a wonderful experience at Padaria Nova! Even though they were out of rissóis when I stopped by, the lady behind the counter was so friendly and helpful. I ended up getting a raspberry strudel and a loaf of freshly baked bread, which she sliced for me right then and there at no extra charge. Beyond the delicious treats, she was incredibly knowledgeable about Acushnet and gave me great directions to other local spots I wanted to see. It’s rare to find that kind of hospitality!
Feel like I am back in the old country as soon as the door opens. The smell is amazing. Bread is awesome but I go for the pastries and especially the cacoila roll. The staff are cute and amazing. I have been going for about a decade.
Finding this amazing bakery was like hitting the lottery! The bread and pastry are delicious and authentic. The young woman who has waited on me the 2 times I've visited has been helpful in making decisions about what to get. And the prices are amazing for the beautiful quality of their food. Warning: arrive early because they're pretty close to sold out by noon on a Saturday.
I personally didn’t go inside but my friend did as I waited in the car as I was way to tired for social interaction. I had her drive me to New Bedford because I was craving queijadas because my Portuguese father always said that but whenever I googled them it usually comes up as pastéis de nata. If you’re not familiar with them, they are a Portuguese custard dessert and they’re delicious. I had never tried them from this place before but once I got them (we got a bakers dozen) they barely lasted a week in my house because everyone loved them. I would 100% recommend because of their queijadas are gold then so should the rest of their foods!
A MUST try. Smaller place which makes it decieving, but you won't find a better "pop" (in my opinion) in the city. And their customer service is 1st Class 👍 PS: Try their "small" pops if you haven't yet! *9/14/22 Update: Recently began enjoying their Caseiro (not positive on the spelling) bread and it is to die for! I would advise that you have 1 of their very helpful "clerks" slice it for you. Trust me, you WILL NOT be disappointed.
