About One6Three
Tucked into the heart of East Rock, One6Three is a cozy neighborhood pizza shop owned by husband-and-wife team Andrew and Alexa. We’ve been slingin' pies since the winter of 2016, doing things our own way. Our crust is a little thicker, made to... More

Today, we made a stop at One6Three, tucked into the East Rock section of New Haven, where it’s been holding down its corner for about ten years. This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are buil
Some of the best pizza in New Haven by far, and, dare I say, miles ahead of the Big Three. The pizza coming out of One6Three (a name I presume comes from their address) is just better in every metric. Their undercarriage is crispier, their crust is tastier, the sauce is tangier... highly recommend the "Sweetballs" pizza with ricotta, meatballs, mozz, hot cherry peppers, and honey. We also got "The Spinaki" pizza, which was admittedly just okay. Will definitely be back to try some more of their pies. Note that indoor seating is quite limited, as they only have 3-4 tables inside. So if you're visiting in New Haven winter, you may want to order takeout. Ultimately, getting 2 pies filled 5 people up for around $12 each -- great deal.
Might be the best pizza I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to NJ, NY, and CT! The crust is super thin and you don’t feel gross after eating it- hubby and I ate a small pie :) Service was amazing too: it felt like I was a guest at someone’s house! Just be mindful that seating is limited if you’re planning on dining in!
Intimate New Haven Pizza party with my cousins V and Pat. Hangout gets a 10 and the pie gets an 8.1 — both weighed on the Pickles scale. 👌 🥒🍕
The pizza is tasty, but every single time I pick up a pizza from there, it's cold. I've even tried calling to order while on the way there (10-15 mins away), hoping I can pick it up while it's still hot, but no luck. Any time I ordered, they told me "20 minutes". I'd only recommend this place if you're eating there, or if you order takeout while you're standing at the counter, and you can get the pizza when it comes out of the oven. Otherwise it's disappointing. They clearly don't care if they're selling hot pizzas or not. Most places have an area they put pizzas to keep warm until they're picked up. 163 just stacks them on the counter to chill
