One More Bite Dumpling--San Marcos

A heads up about parking; very small parking lot for this plaza and it was packed during lunch time. Street parking is available, but not that many spaces available as well due to neighboring apartments. The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. However, the cleaning spray they used to clean after each table was too strong. It's not a nice smell during eating while they clean the table next to us. Servers were good; attentive and polite. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. I suppose it can be considered one of the closer to authentic Asian food for San Diego; still isn't as good as restaurants at OC and LA. Couple of the dishes came with additional sauces that are unusual for me, but I suppose that's what the local customers liked, and a restaurant has to adopt to local flavors. On

Great service and atmosphere. The dumplings and wonton soup were great! We had the pork wonton soup, two spicy pork dumpling dishes, a pork-shrimp dumpling dish and the ube flavored boba tea. The wonton broth was good. It comes with a few leaves of bok choy and you can taste a little sesame seed oil. A bit too salty, but otherwise comforting. The pork dumplings are the same as the wonton soup, minus the broth and bok choy. I learned I'd rather have pork filling rather than the pork with shrimp option because it loses it's flavor. But I would really love to see a chicken and pork filling combo! The sauce that came with my shrimp-pork dumplings was the best one out of all of them.

This San Marcos location is one of three One More Bite Dumpling eateries in Southern California, offering fast casual Shanghai-style dishes. This location features spacious high ceilings and an open layout. It also offers free parking. The chicken fried udon with black pepper sauce was recommended by our server Allen and it was the table’s favorite pick. The dish contained moist and flavorful chicken and noodles, with a balanced level of oil, so it was a medium heavy dish. It was accompanied by nicely sliced carrots, green bell peppers, and cabbage for texture. At $16, it was also a great value for hungry eaters considering the generous portions. Clean modern place, high ceilings, spacious. Excellent food. We got more than 10 items to test the new place. Several were variations on the same dumpling theme, but all were excellent. So much food we had to invite a couple more people to help us eat. Parking is very limited. Staff were excellent, knowledgeable, and efficient. Definitely will go again. And next to a great barber shop!

4.4 stars - the dim sum here is delicious, no question about it. The boba was lacking flavor, something to skip. The service was 6 stars, from the hostess to the servers. Lots of people during peak and non peak hours, and seating may be difficult to get without waiting or a reservation.
