Oliver Springs Public Library

What a gem in Oliver Springs! I stopped by to get a library card and was thrilled to discover the library shares a building with a museum showcasing the town’s history—how cool is that?! It’s the perfect blend of stepping into the past and escaping into a good book. The librarian was an absolute delight—super friendly, helpful, and made the process so easy. Our chat was the cherry on top of a wonderful visit. We spoke about October Sky being filmed here. This place is a must-visit for anyone in the community looking for knowledge, history, or just a warm, welcoming vibe. Can’t wait to come back! My grandchildren and I love the Oliver Springs library! Ms. Jessica is amazing and has put so much heart into the summer program. We are very grateful.

Cute little library in an old train depot building. It is very small and only ran by one person, so I get why the hours are that way. Oliver Springs is very luck to have a library. It's worth getting a library card to access the e-books alone. If you like trains and history I recommend the visit.

I cannot rate the place as a Library but I can rate it as a railroad aficionado. From the outside, the station appears to be have been restored in great shape. There were several outside exhibits including a ex Southern Railway caboose and an old fire truck. The building was closed but picking in the windows showed a number of items that I would like to come back and look at including what appeared to be a live steam locomotive.

Very nice place. Too bad the librarian that had so much experience is gone. She was great!
