Old Saybrook Pizza Palace & Restaurant

Last night, 03/09/2026, we tried Pizza Palace and we were extraordinarily pleased. The pizza was deliciously prepared with quality ingredients. The order of ziti was was bombarded with cheese and the portion size was ENORMOUS! Our table of three shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio to wash it down. Alex was our lovely server. She was personable, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the menu. She worked very hard to please us, while she served others and bussed her own tables. She should be commended for her efforts. The pleasant owner made sure to come around to ask if we were satisfied with our order. Pizza Palace is a definite thumbs up!

We’ve lived in the shoreline for 10 yrs and have driven past this restaurant hundreds of times. Today, my wife said we’re going to try it and I’m sure glad she did. We had the best tasting tuna grinder ever in a charming setting. The interior is very comfortable and nicely done. Our server was friendly and efficient, and the owners were just delightful. Pizza Palace has earned rave reviews for years. We’re so glad it’s just a few miles away on Rt 1. We will be going back many more times. They say their seafood is top notch as it is delivered fresh every day. You just can’t beat that.

Pretty decent pizza spot, thought the garlic bread appetizer was good, mozzarella sticks not so much. The actual pizza was really good, the white pie we had with broccoli was outstanding, and the special with all meat and veggies was quite good as well. I had a cheeseburger sub which was fine, nothing special, although the bun was above average. Some rice pudding for dessert really hit the spot, and we even got an extra pizza to take home. Service was friendly and prices were mostly reasonable.

Pizza is so subjective- everybody has their own idea of what’s good and what isn’t. So, although we love the pizza here, let’s talk about all the other great things on the menu. Onion rings are the best ever. Nice light breading, very thin rings, individually fried. Fish and chips? Just amazing for an Italian restaurant- fresh cod, nicely breaded and fried. The cheeseburger salad is innovative and delicious. Salads are great also. Service is always exceptional- friendly and efficient. The only area that might use some Improvement is the soups. Not the best, but everything else makes up for it. We drive 45 minutes for less lunch every 10 days or so and have never been disappointed.

The pizza was delicious. We asked for the pizzas well done. Many restaurants say they will, but it’s still floppy pizza. This place understood the assignment. We purchased the buy three pizzas and get one free deal. Every pizza was perfectly well done. Not only that, the place was very clean and beautifully decorated. The staff/owners were so kind and friendly. My only complaint…. My stomach isn’t big enough to try all the things I wanted to try!! We will absolutely be coming back. Great menu, great flavor, great service. #worthit
