Old Academy Bed & Breakfast

Having enjoyed this splendid B&B for more than 20 years during many family visits, I recommend it highly. Every bedroom is lovely, the public rooms are comfortable and beautifully appointed. The friendly hosts, Don and Jean, will make sure you enjoy a delicious breakfast before you head off on your day.

Cannot rate Don and Jean’s beautiful B&B high enough. It truly is a luxury B&B—the pictures don’t do it justice. Every room has been painstakingly restored and the decor and antiques really are so beautiful. Every surface had been freshly polished and shined. I’ve never stayed in a more clean, beautiful, and frankly enjoyable B&B. Don & Jean are beyond kind and made us feel like family immediately. Breakfast was delicious and served so elegantly. We really didn’t want to leave. A true gem!

We had a very enjoyable stay. The room was very nice. Jean cooked us a delicious breakfast. They are wonderful hosts. A great place to stay. The Old Academy also has some very nice rooms where people can gather. I think it would be a great place for smaller family reunions.

What a delightful experience! This place is fun because it was once a school! But it is so well done you would hardly know it. It is an incredibly clean property! Everything is highly polished! Not even a speck of dust anywhere. The innkeepers are very hospitable and kind. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We stayed in the blue room with the queen bed. We stay in a lot of B&B's and this bed was one of the most comfortable beds we've stayed in. Not too hard and not too soft... just right! We would stay here again and recommend it highly to anyone passing through the area. It's convenient both to Charleston and Savannah.

We felt like we were visiting family! Don and Jean were so kind. Don recommended a fabulous restaurant in town. Jean’s attention to every little detail in our room and throughout the house was very much appreciated! We loved how Jean wanted to know what we would like for breakfast in the morning and cooked us up a fabulous breakfast! Just a few minutes from route 95 in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Make the effort to drive past all the usual highway hotels and fast food eating and enjoy a home away from home. You’ll be glad you did!
