Novel Ice Cream

Yesterday in Phoenix 33-34 degrees Celsius 🥵 perfect time to enjoy 3 scoops of ice cream from our favorite hand-batched ice cream shop. Eating ice cream while watching sunset 🌅 sooo blessed. Seriously my hubby is an ice cream snoot and he said Novel ice-cream best in the world and we travel all over for those who know us. Who else will drive 45 mins to get ice-cream only?😅 Hubby had 2 scoops of Bourbon with toffee bits (both our favorites as you can really taste the bourbon) and Vanilla Madascar , I had the 1 scoop bourbon, 1 scoop butter pecan soooo good , 1 scoop strawberry. Wished they had more bigger chunks of strawberry. But my all time favorite was having the hot donut filled with bourbon and toffee bits ice cream. I’ve had that twice before but didn’t review. I tried the signature dessert, the dough melt, and it was great! I chose the butter pecan ice cream and it came stuffed into an old-fashioned glazed donut. The donut was on the order of Krispy Kreme wherein it's light and melts in your mouth. The ice cream tasted fresh and creamy, probably locally made or at least high quality. The two together worked great-- not too sweet and the ice cream didn't melt immediately. It is a messy dessert as the donut sticks to the wrapping. Could use wax paper instead of the regular paper-- would stick less to the wrapper. Highly recommend it though! There's a small shaded area to eat, but only one table.

I like Novel Ice Cream, and lived near their original location near downtown Phoenix at 11th Ave & Grand. This location is really more of a service window. They do offer free samples (useful for picky 4-year-olds). Good while street walking in downtown Mesa, or after visiting the Idea Museum or Natural History Museum. FYI: The blue Cookie Monster flavor is popular with kids, but does get tongues, mouths and fingers (and thus shirts & pants) blue.

Truly one of the best combinations I’ve ever had, peanut butter with that chocolate drizzle on top glazed donut. Quite delightful and very tasty. First time ever been here and i gotta say i would really 100% recommend bringing friends here to try this out.

My first time visiting Novel I’ve Cream and it won’t be my last! 🤩😋 I ordered the Dough Melt donut with two scoops inside (Honey Lavender + Bourbon Caramel Toffee Crunch) and a topping (Golden Grahams). Unique and delicious! The staff were friendly and helpful; giving me suggestions for toppings that would pair well with my ice cream. I can’t wait to come back, and bring my friends and family to also check it out.
