New York Deli Restaurant

Finally got in! Been driving by, at all the wrong times, for a couple years. Now I'm wishing I had made a stronger effort earlier. From the moment I entered, I felt welcome. The staff was terrific throughout. A special shout out to Ashleigh who was so warm, friendly, a genuinely nice person. Felt like I had known her for years. Narrowing down the choices from such an extensive menu is never an easy thing for me; too many things look good. At least I had a basket full of breadsticks, rolls & butter, plus a bowl of very good pickles (which they will refill), to enjoy while I looked it over. I settled on the half sandwich & soup combo eventually, choosing the Rueben and the beef & barley soup. The soup was thick & delicious, I could've eaten a quart easily. We arrived in Detroit for a wedding and needed to find a place for lunch. We took a chance at looking for a Deli, and we were not disappointed. My husband had the soup and half a sandwich special, and I went for a plain pastrami and corned beef on fresh rye bread. When we sat down they brought us a little bowl of pickles to snack on too. The soup was rather tasty, and it looked like it had fresh homemade noodles. The sandwich was delicious. The corned beef was more salty than the pastrami, and the pastrami did have more fat on it though. It was very good and I would go back. I wish we had a little place like this where we live currently.

Cozy deli with extensive menu. Reuben was excellent, cole slaw needed some seasoning. Salad was fresh. Soups always good (we had mushroom barley and chili cabbage). Kelly was very attentive and personable.

​I recently ordered takeout from New York Deli in St. Clair Shores, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful on the phone, making the ordering process quick and easy. ​When I picked up my food, the staff was just as welcoming and had my order ready right on time. And the best part? The food was amazing! The pastrami brisket was absolutely delicious—perfectly tender and full of flavor. Even after the short drive home, the sandwich was still warm and held up beautifully. ​It's clear they put a lot of care into their food and customer service. I highly recommend New York Deli for a delicious takeout meal!

Fabulous service and delicious food! Lenten Specials feature wild caught fish, best raspberry dressing I ever tasted, baked cod was outstanding, oversized garden salad! Every bite a delight! Staff is efficient, courteous, and friendly. I will be back!
