Customer Reviews
Nestledown is a truly special place. Sue and Ken have built a cozy, welcoming Scandinavian retreat. Every detail is considered with care: décor, amenities, breakfast, creature comforts, the works. The sauna is top-notch—perfectly clean and lots of room to relax. My friend and I stayed for two nights in the suite and were sad to leave. When an Airbnb later in the week fell through, Sue and Ken saved the day and welcomed us back with open arms. Any trip to the UP from now on will always include a visit to Nestledown. Thank you, Sue and Ken!
Nestledown is a very quiet and peaceful place to stay in Marquette. We enjoyed the sauna both nights of our stay. The breakfasts and evening snacks were wonderful. The bed and breakfast is extremely clean and well maintained. Location was about a mile from downtown with a nice walking path along the lake. Parking downtown is all paid through an app. Very few options for free parking in the downtown area. Owners were very friendly and offered suggestions for things to do in the area.
Sue & Ken are the quintessential innkeepers - they are welcoming but not overbearing, knowledgeable about the area, keep the rooms spotless, and fantastic cooks! We loved our stay at Nestledown and would gladly return. I loved being able to have a delicious home cooked breakfast each morning before heading out for the day. They provided storage for our bikes which made it easy to take advantage of the great bike trails along the lake. We slept great and appreciated the cozy Scandinavian design throughout. The room we chose was exactly as pictured and it was so nice to be able to open the windows (unlike chain hotels) and enjoy the fresh Lake Superior breeze. We often use Airbnb, but felt completely at home at Nestledown!
There is a reason why there are so many 5 star reviews, and that is because Sue is a phenomenal host! The accomodations are relaxing and beautiful! The sauna was a nice addition as well as the common spaces for guests. Thanks so much!
Comfortable, clean, quiet rooms and amazing breakfasts make the Nestledown the perfect B&B. It is ideally located across from a sandy beach and close to downtown Marquette. The Nestledown was built brand new to be a Bed and Breakfast which results in an ideal layout. The walls were made extra thick, so the rooms are very quiet. The common areas include a large sitting room and a spacious dining room on the ground floor. There is another sitting room on the lower level for games or just talking. This level also features a sauna with bathrooms across from it. Sue explained how one typically steams for a given time and then showers. This process is repeated. We, however, did not use the sauna, but it looked really nice. Stay at the Nestledown for the best possible B&B experience.
