Customer Reviews
Namsan Tonkatsu opened not long ago, and I had seen a lot of mixed reviews before coming in. I went for Friday lunch and the place was actually pretty busy, but our food came out very quickly, which was a nice surprise. We sat near the door and every time it opened it got pretty cold, which was the only downside during our visit. I ordered both the cheese tonkatsu and the spicy one, and I personally liked the spicy one more. They give you pepper as a side dish, which pairs well with the tonkatsu. The soup that was served first wasn’t too bad, and the soondubu was also decent. Overall, a solid meal with fast service—worth checking out despite some minor comfort issues.
Great food, generous portions, and friendly service. The restaurant was clean and kids menu was very good!
I visited the new Namsan Donkatsu in Palisades Park after seeing it all over Threads. The restaurant does a decent job recreating the old-school Korean diner-style pork cutlet you’d typically see in retro cafés in Korea. The meal starts with a thick, slightly sweet cream soup that feels very nostalgic. The main plate comes with rice, macaroni, cabbage salad topped with ketchup and mayo, pickled radish, and a fresh green chili pepper. Since the dishes are on the sweeter and heavier side, the chili pepper actually helped cut through the richness and kept the meal from feeling overwhelming. The sauce is a thin brown demi-glace rather than the tangier, modern Korean cutlet sauce. The pork cutlet itself was crispy for the first few bites, but the bottom breading separated and became soggy fai
Here we go again! Another Donkatsu place??? There are so many bunsik places trying it and never leave a name and actual Donkatsu places in the area. This one however, will be remembered and put it's root down! Walked in and I was very low on sugar. Whispered to server asking for sweet Radish as I was diabetic and experiencing low sugar. The server repsonded immediately and brought me a dish of sweet Radish and emergency averted!! I don't think he even realized that he averted an emergency and just acted quickly as if he've done this before! Thank you! Placed the order and enjoyed variety of accompaniments including the nostalgic cream soup and it was like going back 53 years with memories of Korea. They are doing everything perfectly so far. Didn't even realize the time passing as I was in
Food was really good! We ordered namsan combo and squid kimbab and they were very very delicious (personally really enjoyed the kimbab) oh and the soup before the main course was chefs kiss 😚
